Dear CenDen Families,
We hope this letter finds you in good health. We very much appreciate your patience as we have been adjusting, like you, to the unforeseen ways in which our lives have changed in the last few months. Parents, students, and the entire staff have shown incredible resilience and we are proud of how the Lake Geneva Community has answered the call to ensure that our students continue to be served. As the school year comes to an end, I would like to share some important information with you:
School Office Hours – The office at Central-Denison Elementary will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00-3:00 though June 12th. Mr. Nugent and I will be in and out periodically through June and July to check phone messages and we will check our emails regularly. We will reopen in August. Feel free to call or email if we can be of help to you. The District Office will be open Monday through Thursday 7:30-4:00 and Friday from 7:30-1:30. [email protected] or [email protected]
Pick-Up & Drop-Off Days –Thursday, June 4th and Friday, June 5th from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm at Central-Denison Elementary School. This is the time for families to pick-up their personal belongings and at the same time drop-off Chromebooks, chargers, library books and any additional school materials. PLEASE PLACE CHROMEBOOKS & CHARGERS IN A PLASTIC GARBAGE BAG AND WRITE THE CHILD’S NAME, GRADE, AND TEACHER NAME ON THE BAG IN LARGE LETTERS. Drive through the playground area from Cook Street, pull up to the grade level tent of your students, swap out technology/library books for your child’s “belongings” bags, and drive on out to Madison Street.
Summer Meals – We will continue to offer grab-n-go breakfast and lunch, at least through June 30th at the current sites. Meals are served Monday-Friday from 11:00-12:00 at Central-Denison by the Cook Street entrance. Changes to this plan, if any, will be shared on the CenDen Facebook page and on the Lake Geneva School District website. www.lakegenevaschools.org
Summer School – Our “Jump Start” Summer School Program is being planned for August 3rd through August 21st. This is an invite only program that is designed to give students a “jump start” into the routines of being in school while focusing instruction on the needs of individual students. Invitations are being mailed home with student report cards on June 12th.
Yearbooks – If you ordered a yearbook for your child, it is being sent home in their “belongings” bag on the Pick-up and Drop-Off Days. If you did not have a chance to order previously, there are a few extras that you can purchase from Mrs. Draper in the office. They are $11.00.
Preschool and 4K Registration – Do you have a 3 year old or 4 year old in your house that is ready for school? It’s time to register! You can pick up registration materials at Central-Denison, Star Center, or in the District Office. You could also access the documents on the District website. We are excited to welcome you to the Lake Geneva Schools Family and would be happy to schedule a tour of our building and share a bit about our amazing programs.
E-Registration – The window for e-registration opens on July 31st. Further details and school updates will be shared throughout the summer.
Moving and Communication - If you move, or change your phone number or email address throughout the summer, PLEASE let us know. We would hate to have you miss some important information due to a simple missed address or phone number change.
Communication is key as we move forward. We know that you will have many questions about the upcoming school year. Rest-assured that the District will continue to make cautious and careful decisions regarding our return to school. Be sure to check the District website for updates throughout the summer.
We want to, again, thank you, for your efforts to work through the struggles that resulted from our unexpected closure. It was truly, a new learning experience for all of us. We wish you all a safe and enjoyable Summer Break, and remember, TOGETHER WE CAN!
We are filled with CenDen pride and are gratefully yours,
Becky Buhler & Colin Nugent
