Dear Parents/Guardians:
All Wisconsin students, in Grades 3-8, will be participating in the Forward Exam assessment during the months of April and May. Third grade students will be tested in the areas of English/Language Arts and Mathematics. We have set the following testing dates for our 3rd grade students at Central-Denison Elementary:
- Monday - April 26th
- Tuesday - April 27th
- Wednesday - April 28th
It is very important that your son or daughter attend school on these days. Students not in school on the scheduled testing days will be scheduled for a make-up test prior to the close of the testing window on May 14th. If you know in advance that your child will not be at school on any of the identified test days, please contact your child’s teacher as soon as possible so that we can proactively schedule alternative times. In addition, it is very likely that your child will begin testing first thing in the morning, so it is especially important that your child arrives at school on time. If a student arrives late to school, they will not be admitted into classrooms during a testing session. Also, please note that each student needs a working pair of headphones for the Forward Exam test. If your child does not have a set of headphones, please be sure to send a set to school prior to testing or contact the school office to purchase a pair for $4.00.
Enclosed is an Informational Brochure for Families which gives more information about the assessment including its purpose, what scores will be provided, and how the scores will be used.
The Forward Exam assessment measures the knowledge and skills your child should have acquired by the time they reach each grade level. Their performance on the assessment will not affect any of their current grades. Please encourage your son or daughter to take the test seriously and do the best they can. The results of these tests will be used to help school staff make determinations to best support your child and his/her educational needs moving forward.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you,
